Linda Miller Poore (Sr. Partner-Store Manager) Spoiled by a childhood of custom-sewn clothes made by her mother, Linda first learned how to sew as a child. Through her teen years, sewing was a way to obtain the faddish, “hip” clothes that her frugal mother refused to buy for her. While her childhood dream of being a designer for the movies like the great Edith Head never materialized, she continued to research historical costuming and follow fashion’s evolution, occasionally sewing for science fiction conventions and other special occasions. After a long detour as a librarian (who amassed an amazing collection of books and patterns on the history of fashion), she has finally realized a career in fashion by bringing Syracuse a new retail fabric store. Cheryl Costa (Partner-Creative Director) Cheryl’s sewing background is deeply rooted in her 30 plus years in community and semi-pro theater. As a back stage technical person she frequently supported the costumers with their production sewing deadlines. During her high tech naval career, while on remote assignment, she had the collateral duty of being the unit’s official tailor, sewing and repairing everything from sailor’s uniforms, to foul weather gear and signal flags. At the store, she is known for her enthusiastic high energy and greetings. Behind the scenes she manages the business’s mailing list and plans advertising and promotion. Email: Cheryl@FTFabrics.com

Barbara (Sales Associate) Barbara began sewing as a young adult to create comfortable and attractive clothing for herself; then outfits for her children, and now for her grandchildren. She has a master’s degree in textiles and fashion from Syracuse University, where she also taught. Her love of colors, textures and patterns is expressed in her custom line of hand dyed and painted accessories that are available through prestigious galleries and fine art shows coast to coast.

Charles (Inventory Clerk) Charles has been with us from the beginning. He helped us with the post purchase stock room set up and with the actual final configuration of the store prior to opening in August-2008. So in a very real sense he is our first offical employee. Charles attends Carpentry school and hopes to become a contractor in a few years. He's been amused how similar sewing and carpentry are in the context of Bills of Materials and Measurment Specfications. While Charles didn't know how to sew when he joined us, he has since learned the basics from other staff members. Sewing has become a welcome outlet for him. In fact he made holiday gifts this year for family and friends, something that made him smile broadly.
